The RubyMower: installing Ruby in a stupid robot lawnmower

More and more tech arrives in our homes: a video intercom, a robo vacuum, a heatpump. One day you realise they are missing a feature, or that their software is just terribly dumb, or that you just don’t want it to send any data to the cloud.

It turns out that you don’t need to resign yourself to the frustrating software it comes with. You can hack your devices!

This is an adventure of man versus cheap Leroy Merlin hardware. We will explore electromagnetic induction, firmware hacking, hidden debug ports, installing Ruby on microcontrollers, and much more!

See you on Thursday 29th of October at Flywire!

Speaker 📢 Ignacio Huerta
